Blackstar

Blackstar is the title of the final album by the fabulously talented artist known the world over as David Bowie.

Blackstar

It was released just days prior to the singers death this morning aged 69.  David Bowie was a wonderful musician and leaves a legacy of many incredible innovative works of ‘art for the ears’ that will be remembered in the future in the way that Mozart is today.  David Bowie was a visionary and challenged perceptions on life.  He shot to fame in the 1970’s and his success spanned several decades and styles.

So what does this have to do with The Earth Emperor’s Eye and the Whittenbury Watch?  It’s to do with the star! Bowie had a curious attraction to stars – the songs Starman, Life on Mars and Space Oddity and the line ‘the stars look very different today’.  Whilst in the novel a star is pivotol to the Earth Emperor revealling his magic to the world. Now one of the world’s most famous popstars has released an eerie posthumous album, Blackstar.  Has the Earth Emperor’s star turned dark? What does it mean for the future of mankind? Particularly prothetic as Bowie sings,”At the centre of it all, your eyes” and “I am the great I am.”
